Meal for 4 with dessert under $7! (Phoenix Grocery Sale List)

Wednesday, July 8th, 2009

This week is all about the “other white meat”. You can purchase pork loin for under $2 per lb or pork chops for under $1 per lb. The price of peaches keeps coming down and with baking ingredients on sale this week we decided that the perfect “economy vacation” meal using grocery sales items for the week would come from my mom and from Joan (Cooks.com).

This week, make Brandied Apples and Pork served with Warm Peach Cobbler and Vanilla Ice Cream. It will cost you under $7!

Below find the link to this week’s Phoenix Grocery Sale list by grocery store as well as these yummy recipes. You can print out your grocery list right from the file and plan your grocery budget for the week. By using this list, by husband and I saved over $100 last week alone, by sticking to only the sale items. (It’s fun to watch the grocery clerks eyes bug out when you check out and they read off your total savings.) You have to have some fun while unemployed… and only have the grocery store as your big “date” out for the week.

Clipper Tuesdays: V 1:2 (Phoenix Grocery Sale Checklist and Recipe)

Wednesday, June 24th, 2009

Ok, last week we went a little “crazy” with the fruited chicken salad utilizing the great sale on boneless, skinless chicken breasts. This week, we have an easy meal that doesn’t take a lot of work to put together. Your family will enjoy this comfort food style recipe for under $6 (and probably have left overs for later in the week)! The main ingredients for this dish are from sale items in Phoenix grocery stores this week. Recipe portion sizes are for a family of four.

Don’t forget to download your Phoenix Grocery Sale Shopping List. This list has all the best deals by grocery store for the week of June 24-June 30, 2009. You can print the list right off or adjust the list adding or removing items you would like to purchase.

Remember, one of the best ways to save is to plan ahead and go into the grocery store with a list. You can set your budget and not be surprised at the checkout.

Phoenix Clipper Tuesdays: Vol 1

Wednesday, June 10th, 2009

Phoenix, AZ (Week of June 10-June 16, 2009):

So with all this extra time on my hands and little money in my pocket to do things outside the home, going to the grocery store has become one of the “big outings” for the week.  It was never something I enjoyed prior to meeting my husband. I would be called a “mission shopper”… get in and get out. I would even make the grocery list in the order of the aisles so I could speed up the process. Now, with my free time, and with him by my side, we actually browse or today, the equivalent of window shopping unless it’s “on the list”.

So speaking of list, this is my theme for Tuesday’s blog. Introducing Phoenix Clipper Tuesdays.  Maybe you remember the days–or at least heard of them–you know the days when your mom would clip coupons, read sales papers and plan the week’s meals. No, I am not exactly talking June Cleaver, but there is something to be learned from planning. In fact, it can help you save money during these economy vacation days.  I thought I would use my organization skills for the greater good and share with you a list of some hot sales by some our local retailers. In addition, some recipes to incorporate some of your grocery deals. Goal: Save money and have some fun cooking.

Each week, an excel file will be attached to the blog that provides a listing by store of the best deals. Although some stores may be advertising similar specials of the same product, only the items that are the cheapest will appear. I have also had some fun categorizing “why should I buy” this product.  Foods will be marked if they are included in the weekly recipes, if they are good items to keep in the pantry (use later), if they are healthy and/or if they are a guilty pleasure (c’mon, we need something!)  On the first tab will be some recipes utlizing some of the sale items.

This is a trial, so would love your feedback and suggestions. If you see a deal or have a good recipe, please share.

Bon apetit fellow economy vacationers!

Sincerely,

Angela
